About Us
Our Mission:
Leonix Movement Theatre is a theatre company committed to creating bold and brave theatre through devising original works and uplifting new voices.
Our Story
The name “Leonix”, a combination of the lion and the phoenix, was chosen as a commitment to create bold stories of transformation and renewal. Founded in 2009, Leonix still creates work in that spirit today. They have been praised by NUVO for creating “the kind of well-executed movement-infused theater we could use more of..."
They are the creators of three full-length original works: Before All Else - an epic quest through the depths of the underworld with Nora as she excavates where she has been and where she is going inspired by Ibsen’s A Doll's House and underworld mythology; The Birthday Show - a wild clown romp through the ups and downs of aging; and Crossing the Bridge - a highly physical and intimately raw journey of a man facing his own death with the support of his sister inspired by Studs Terkels’ Will the Circle Be Unbroken.
In 2025, the company moved from pure devising to produce FEAST. by Megan Gogerty.
Our goal is that our audience leave more alive than when they walked in.
